Special Order Non-Stock Imprint Die/Screen Charges*
All logos and non-stock fonts are hot stamped utilizing a custom made die. Silk screening and pad printing utilize a screen instead of a die. A die or screen can be used over and over again. Dies are recycled after two years of non-use. Screens are recycled after 30 days. A single die or screen can print type in one area. If you are using a different, non-stock type or logo in two areas (e.g. front and back) two dies or screens must be made. When printing with more than one color on a single logo (i.e. a two color logo) one die or screen is needed for each color.

Leather Scrap Proof
Samples are printed on leather scraps and will be accompanied by a printed digital mockup showing final positioning on the item. The scrapes of leather are not the same as the leather used to make the book so it is generally only advisable the use a Leather Scrap Proof when the cost of a Real Item Proof is prohibitive and the die is intricate. Leather scrap proofs are required for most intricate personalizations to books costing more than $200 each or large runs. Plus cost of Shipping the leather scrap proof. Digital Mockup
An artist will create an approximate digital rendering of how your logo might appear as if it were personalized then photographed. The digital proof will be delivered by email. This is generally the most effective way to decide positioning and color. |

* Larger Hot Stamping of Text and Logos
Logos, large text areas and combinations of text and artwork can be cast into a metal die which we can use for hot stamping large runs or very special one-of-a-kind books. The cost to produce a die is $90, so for short runs the process can be rather cost prohibitive. Some projects are so special that the cost of producing a die to print one or two books isn't really a factor. Besides the addition of graphical elements, the visual benefits of die-cast hot stamping are that there is precise control over the live area allowing for greater font adjustment and text flow yielding a unique and impressive result.
Custom Refinishing
Some kinds of radical personalization and customization are best done when the book is being made. When the run is too small to meet custom manufacturing requirements or when time does not allow the 4-8 weeks that custom manufacturing often takes, it may become necessary to personalize an already finished product by radical means. During the personalization process clamping marks or special alterations may leave marks especially on already finished leather. The process to repair the book after radical personalization is called custom refinishing. Refinishing is billed at $35 per hour.
Custom Leathersmithing
Some kinds of customization are best done while the item is being originally crafted--and best done by the same person making the item. This often produces the highest qualty look at the least expensive price. The drawbacks are that there are high minimum runs for this kind of work and those minumums are different for each product and project turnaround can exceed 6 months. Custom work done by a leathersmith who makes the book is billed at $60 per hour. In a world of machines and factories, most of our old world craft leathersmiths are booked for 3-4 months in advance.

ALL CUSTOMIZATION AND PERSONALIZATION ORDERS MUST BE PREPAID IN ADVANCE, IN FULL. THERE ARE NOT RETURNS FOR ANY REASON. ON THE RARE OCCASION OF PRODUCT DEFECT(S). IMPROPERLY MADE ITEMS WILL BE REPAIRED OR REMADE AT OUR OPTION. DISCOUNT COUPONS ARE NOT VALID FOR SPECIAL ORDERS.

SHIPPING DISCOUNTS AND OFFERS ARE NOT VALID FOR SPECIAL ORDERS. AN ESTIMATED SHIPPING DEPOSIT MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCE WITH THE ORDER. ANY ADDITIONAL SHIPPING COSTS, INCLUDING MANDATORY INSURANCE OR ANY SURPLUS DEPOSITS WILL BE RESOLVED AFTER THE ORDER HAS SHIPPED.
Notes: All sales of customized, personalized, or special order books are final. No returns for unwanted customized, personalized, or special order items with be accepted. Please choose your item and personalization text carefully!
Once your personalized order has been submitted, please periodically monitor the email address you give us during the checkout process until you receive an email saying your product has shipped. We do, on a fairly frequent basis, have questions about or suggest changes for your personalization text. While we can't be responsible for checking your text for you, we will point out anything we do notice that may be a spelling or other mistake. In the event of a question, we will stop the personalization process and attempt to contact you. We will not proceed with your order in most cases until we hear back from you. To avoid delays check your email, and your SPAM filter box often until you get a message that your order has been shipped. We use email as a way of verifying text and asking most product related questions as it is less prone to human error than telephone communications.
Severability and Integration
Unless otherwise specified herein, this webpage is a subset of your Entire Agreement. Your Entire Agreement includes:

The above five items, set forth the Entire Agreement and understanding of the parties, relating to the subject matter hereof, and merges all prior discussions and writings, between them, with respect to the contents of this agreement. If any provision (or part thereof) of this Entire Agreement, is determined by a court of competent jurisdiction, as part of a final non-appealable ruling, government action, or binding arbitration, to be invalid, illegal, or otherwise unenforceable, such provision shall be enforced as nearly as possible in accordance with the stated intention of the parties, while the remainder of this Entire Agreement shall remain in full force and effect and bind the parties according to its terms.
