This album has design influnces from the renaissance period with four large calf skin covered wooden flower hinges. The dramatic hinges are designed in the shape of Giglio's, officially the symbol of Florence, Italy where these albums are made by hand in the finest tradion. The hinges resemble the French fleur-de-lys and are said to be a cross between a lily and an iris. The leather album's are hand dyed an antique brown with hints of rust or blood colors hence the name Oxblood Brown. In the hand dying process color is worked into the leather accentuating the natural variations in the leather grain yeilding rich detail when compared to normal leather vat dying methods. The quality of this handheld album is unsurpassed and is archival rated to last 100-200 years!
