Journal Details Measuring 7 x 9 x .8 inches, our Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Journal boasts Mozart's actual musical composition. This lined, blank, "Aged Leather" writing journal features fine reproductions and original notations from the piece entitled The Hunt. This ballet fragment was composed by the prolific and influential composer of the Classical era, Mozart (1564-1616). Inside the journal are 144 softly lined, medium-ruled, archival quality, pH balanced, basic pH, lignin-free, cream colored pages, and in the back is a handy basic pH Memento Accordion Pouch. About the Journal's Cover and Spine The Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Journal has basic pH, carefully crafted, decorative, hardbound, Smyth sewn covers sporting a faux "Aged Leather" look complete with delicate, curled, gold leaf front and back cover borders, gold debossed spine details, a powerful hidden magnetic closure cover, and a gilded inscription on the back cover which reads: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) Lifted from a full page of surviving sheet music from the ballet fragment The Hunt, Mozart's handwriting is artfully debossed onto the cover of the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Journal supporting the illusion that he composed directly on the "Aged Leather" looking journal cover. Mozart's handwriting is, like most old English writing, odd looking at first; its swirling exaggerated characters and abrupt pen strokes, remind us of the great importance of the Classical era. Scratches and scuff marks on the journal's cover are taken from real "Aged Leather" adding to the charm– and worn looking edges make the journal feel like a great heirloom! His musical notations can be easily read showing compositions for Violin, Viola, Flutes, Oboe and others.

Above: Detailed Spine Views More on Mozart's ballet fragment The Hunt Mozart, long considered one of the greatest of the great European Classical era composers, has left us with over 600 compositions including pinnacles of operatic, symphonic, chamber, piano, concertante, and choral music. More than two hundred years after his death, the musical compositions of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart continue to inspire people from all walks of life. With their power to simultaneously invoke passion, rapture and profound serenity, these technically brilliant creations have a universal appeal and exert an effortless hold over their listeners. Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria, in 1756. His musical talent as a child prodigy entranced audiences who were deeply moved by the magical, inspiring performances he gave. He excelled in a wide range of genres including opera, piano concertos, symphonies, string quartets and string quintets, influencing an untold number of composers and musicians. The piece of ballet fragment on our journal cover is entitled The Hunt (KV 300[299d]), which means hunting or chasing. It is believed to be composed in Paris in 1778. Chasing and hunting themes with an erotic subtext were popular in ballet and pantomime performances of the time, which typically featured shepherds, shepherdesses and Cupid frolicking together.

The inside paper is superiorly engineered, and suited for all writing instruments such as: ballpoint pens, rollerball pens, gel pens, marker pens, technical pens, fountain pens, and pencils; writing in this journal is exceptionally smooth. Bleed through is not a problem as the paper is 5.5 mil thick!

Memento Accordion Pouch
A large Memento Accordion Pouch, in the back of the journal, is ideal for storing odds-and-ends, money, your passport, theater tickets, a small booklet, family photos, or the tip of Cupid's arrow(?)–so very handy! While this 8.5 x 6 inch, basic pH, cloth gusseted, Memento Accordion Pouch expands to a full 1.5 inches at its opening, and is technically large enough to fit a whole pound of chocolate, we don't recommend using your journal as a confectionery corner, otherwise your sweets would get smashed to the size of a thin mint–enjoy!
