I saw this book and thought it would make a nice little house warming gift for my sister Darla who just got her first house. She is very self sufficient, and her new place is a real fixer-upper, so I thought this would serve both as a journal or log book of her home repairs and be a place to keep lists and sketch out plans. The graph paper in the back of the book I thought was a nice touch. So did she!

I must admit that I didn't read the description very well when I bought it (as I thought it was printed on real wood). I guess that was a little much to expect, and I'm very pleased with the quality of the cover anyway. The wood grain is very realistic and I think it is a photograph of real wood which is better than other fake wood products I've seen.

I also got the smaller 3" x 5" DIY notebook which I think makes a nice companion. And I got the Measure Twice book for my husband as he really needs to write things down!
