Manufacturing Details
The Monastic Italian Leather Journal is made in Gubbio, Italy from handworked, genuine, full grain, Italian calf leather. The leather is hand dyed antique brown with moderate coloration details--the result of a hand rubbed finish--adding a rich depth to the book's cover, but not so to detract from the simple monolithic latch style. The design style is well balanced fusing old world and new charm--resulting in a richly simplistic look and a finely functioning book. The cover measures 7.9 x 10.8 x 2.5 and the pages are 6.7 x 9.5 inches. Inside the book block's Fabriano paper is of a heavy 5 mil caliper, is acid-free, has low-lignin content and bears a subtle Giglio, Italian symbol.
